Excite

ExC¡te Poetry was established in 2009 by Rachel McCarthy. Within six months of its foundation ExCite Poetry became the largest of the UK Poetry Society’s Stanzas.

We now have over 150 stanza members and a voluntary committee of six who direct ExCite’s plans.

Our mission is to develop and support the writing and performance of poetry in Exeter and throughout Devon, through partnership with bodies across the UK.

Our activities span many areas; from engagement with school groups via workshops both inside and outside of the classroom, to helping propel Devon poets to publication through our new pamphlet press.

From 2013 we  have been staging the Exeter Poetry Festival, which runs yearly in October.
