Exeter Poetry Festival 2017 workshops
Talking Poetry is a poetry reading workshop led by Chrissy Banks who will be examining, via examples from poets featuring in this year’s Festival, the diverse, dynamic and sometimes perplexing voices of poetry today. It is aimed at those wishing to gain a greater understanding of how to engage with contemporary poetry as well as at the more experienced reader. This is not a writing workshop, though it may inform and prompt new poems of your own.
In Praise Of Brevity is a poetry writing workshop led by Sue Boyle. In poetry, less is (almost) always more. The poems which sing longest and deepest in our memories are often short, but they are also very often the poems which seem to have the most challenging and abiding things to say. How do good writers achieve this? What magic do they work with words? Could we begin to learn to do the same? Sue Boyle’s workshop aims to inspire poets of all persuasions and abilities to discover the power that can be released when their already good writing is pared back to the bone.
These workshops will soon fill up, so book while you can!
