Ian Beech and James Turner on the Poetry Island

poetry island

Ian Beech is presenter and organiser of Poetry Island, the monthly poetry event at the Blue Walnut Café, Walnut Rd, Chelston, Torquay (for more information, other events, etc., visit http://www.bluewalnuttorquay.co.uk). The next Poetry Island event features guest poet performer Steve Pottinger, and is at 7.30pm, Thursday 25th June. This is an excellent venue, a great atmosphere, good lighting, good PA system, good host, responsive audience, good bar – a winning combination which brings out the best in performers.

James Turner is Ian Beech’s first guest on his brand new radio show Poetry Islanders, on Soundart Radio (Totnes & surrounding area), on Sunday 28th June, 2pm-3pm. There’ll be talk of poetry, including some future poetry events in Devon, and we’ll be reading poems written by us, and Ian will play CD tracks of poems by the famous. You can hear this in the Totnes area by tuning in to 102.5 FM, or listen to it  online at http://www.soundartradio.org.uk

Ian Beech & James Turner are appearing together at Crediton Festival in a 2-man show also called Poetry Islanders, an evening of performance poetry, 8pm, Tuesday 7th July, at Crediton Arts Centre, East St. Tickets can be bought online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/creditonartscentre, or by phone at 01363-773260 (Crediton Arts Centre) or 01363 774740 via Crediton Community Bookshop.
